A community partnership dedicated to completing a connected multi-use trail and path system for all.
Safe Trails Whitefish will support our paths and trails through:
In 2021, Safe Trails Whitefish was established to help elevate the citizens' voice in support of the City of Whitefish to establish a completed trail section at the Riverbend/Miles Avenue Segment once and for all. The City of Whitefish established an easement over 40 years ago to secure the river trail in this section. However, this segment must be formally established through extensive permitting processes and landowner negotiations.
This path section is the ONLY viable option for all user groups to travel safely from Kay Beller Park.
In November 2021, Safe Trails Whitefish's leader, Rachel Schmidt, a multigenerational Whitefish resident, called on community members of all ages and abilities to make it clear to the City Council that permitting and constructing this segment is essential, regardless of resistance.
